Los Angeles is known as the Entertainment Capital of the World. Los Angeles is split by the Santa Monica Mountains and is surrounded by the majestic San Gabriel Mountain Range. The climate in Los Angeles has very little humidity and is described as perfect due to sunny and warm temperatures year round.

Los Angeles, which translates to “the angels” in Spanish, also known as the ‘The City of Angels’ is approximately 472 square miles and has a population of close to 4 million residents. With a wide variety of sights to see as well as shopping, food, celebrity spotting and even a large variety of wildlife, Los Angeles is a great place to start or finish your Southwest USA vacation.

For those who love the great outdoors, Los Angeles is home to many different parks and trails to enjoy hiking and camping. Hiking in places such as Griffith Park Trails, Franklin Canyon Park and Willacre Park are sure to please even the most seasoned of hikers. For the best in camping, whether sleeping in a tent or an RV, beautiful scenic areas such as Frank G. Bonelli Park, Marshall Canyon Park and Nursery or Castaic Lake State Recreation Area are some of the best camp sites in the United States.

Vacationers who prefer the indoors will find a large variety of museums, shopping and indoor activities. There are over 300 museums in Los Angeles from History Museums to Wildlife, Technology and Science. One of the more popular places to visit is the Walk of Fame to see the collection of celebrity stars along Hollywood Boulevard. The Griffith Observatory, California Science Museum and the Space Shuttle Endeavor are some of the top museums for families to spend time at during a visit.
